Thanks to GS, who has given the opportunity to meet the young leaders on my school.
Devi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mannargudi, and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Nannilam, won the Tiruvarur district-level interschool computer quiz competition for English and Tamil medium students respectively held here recently.
The quiz contest was organised by Mannargudi chapter of Tamil Nadu Science Forum (TNSF) in association with Rotary Club of Mannargudi and Cambridge Computer Centre.
Teams from about 25 higher secondary schools in Tiruvarur district participated in the event and were tested on their knowledge and understanding of computers and software.
Separate quiz programmes were conducted for Tamil and English medium students to ensure the competition was fair.
The competition comprised written test in both categories, after which five teams were selected for finals. Mostly based on their syllabus, questions dealt with topics such as current trends in IT, computer fundamentals and software such as C, CH, HTML, LINUX and star office. S. Subbiah, associate professor, Trichy Engineering College, was quiz master.
Devi Matriculation HSS team comprising T. S. Sairam, A. Akash and S. R. Senthilkumar won the competition in the English section. Bharathidasan Matriculation HSS, Mannargudi represented by Sivaprakash and S. Muralidharan finished runner up and the third prize went to Rahmath Girls Higher Secondary School, Muthupettai comprising D. Mahalakshmi, R. Monica and S. Priyanga.
Government Girls HSS, Nannilam team of D. Lailaa Banu, J. Meena and S. Vinodha emerged winners in the quiz for Tamil students. Government HSS, Ammaiyappan team of S. Divya, R. Deepika and S. Subalakshmi finished runner up and Government Girls HSS, Mannargudi represented by Keerthana, S. Jeyasakthi and R. Pavithira finished third.
Senthil, chief information officer, Transworld Company, Chennai, gave away the prizes at the valediction. N. Rajappa, secretary of the Mannargudi chapter of the TNSF, R. Sathiamoorthy, president of the Rotary Club of Mannargudi and G. Swaminathan, principal, Cambridge Computer Centre, offered felicitations.
